Acura is a brand name used by Honda in the US, Canada, and Hong Kong since March 1986 to market higher-end line of Hondas. Acura relies solely on badge engineering. Every model including sport utility (SUV), family, and sports cars are rebadged Hondas.

  • 1990
    • Acura dealerships in the US win 5th consecutive first-place ranking on the Customer Satisfaction Index by J. D. Power and Associates. Expansion of research and development in US announced.
  • 1991
    • The Acura Legend coupe won Motor Trend's prestigious Import Car of the Year trophy.
    • Hondas revolutionary VTEC is introduced in the NSX.
  • 1997
    • Integra Type-R introduced. Highest Hp/liter (108) of any production car.
  • 2001
    • MDX won the prestigious Motor Trend "2001 Sport/Utility of the Year" award

Minor update to 2nd generation Integra.

1993

A New 3rd generation Integra is introduced.

1995

New 2nd generation Vigor introduced as TL.

1996

New SLX SUV model is introduced. (Not sold in Canada) New 3rd generation Legend introduced as the RL.

1997

New Civic sedan based EL is introduced. (Canada only) New 2 door Coupe **TL introduced as CL.

1998

The Integra receives a minor update.

1999

New 2nd generation TL is introduced.

2000

No CL model for 2000.

2001

New 2nd gen CL Coupe introduced. New MDX Luxury SUV introduced. New 2nd generation EL model. (Canada only)

2002

The new 4th generation Integra is introduced as the RSX. The NSX is updated.
