A.F.M. Ahsanuddin Chowdhury

Abul Fazal Mohammad Ahsanuddin Chowdhury (1915 - August 30, 2001) was a judicial and political figure in Bangladesh. He became a lawyer in 1942 and a justice on the Bangladesh Supreme Court in 1973. On March 27, 1982, three days after a military coup, Chowdhury was chosen to be the President. As president he had little power, and was used as a figurehead by the regime of martial law administrator Hossain Mohammad Ershad. In December 1983 Chowdhury was removed and Ershad became president.
