The 6 Lexington Avenue Local is a service of the New York City Subway. It is colored green, since it uses the Lexington Avenue Line through midtown. Trains of the Template:NYCS 6 service run all the time; the usual pattern is local service on the whole route. Some midday and rush hour trips (6 Lexington Avenue Local / Pelham Express) run express in the peak direction in the Bronx, and are designated with a diamond rather than the standard circle. During those times, normal local Template:NYCS 6 trains terminate at Parkchester-East 177th Street, and the express trains switch to the local tracks north of there and continue to Pelham Bay Park.
The 6 was the train in the 1974 film The Taking of Pelham One Two Three, about hijackers holding hostages inside a subway car. The 6 was also the train Jennifer Lopez rode in her early days to school; her 1999 album is called "On the 6", a reference to the train.
