24th Caprice
|
The final caprice of Nicolo Paganini's 24 Caprices is a famous work for solo violin.
It is widely considered one of the most difficult peices ever written for the solo violin. It uses many highly advanced techniques such as parallell octaves, rapid shifting, extremely fast scales and arpegios, difficult left hand pizzicato, high positions, and quick string crossing.
People study for many years and still are unable to acquire the virtuosity that is expected for a piece such as this.
The work consists of a theme, 11 variations, and a finale. Many different varions of this work have been composed by various composers, including Rachmaninoff.
