Zarko Dolinar

Žarko Dolinar (July 3, 1920 – March 9, 2003), Ph.D., a native of Koprivnica, Croatia, captured eight gold medals in world championship table tennis competitions.
It is said that he is the only athlete in the world who was a world champion as well as the Doctor of Science in biology. He was former World Doubles Champion with his partner Vilim Harangozo and had a prestigious position of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Sports Science Committee head.
As well as being university professor in Zagreb and in Basel, he also had the title of Righteous Among the Nations for saving Jews during World War II.

Žarko Dolinar died at the age of 82 in Basel, Switzerland.
