Winnipeg Arena is an indoor arena located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, across the street from Canad Inns Stadium. It hosted the Winnipeg Jets of the WHA and the NHL from 1972-1995. The arena was originally constructed in 1955, seating 10,100 at the time. Renovations in 1979 expanded capacity to 15,500. It is to be demolished after the November 16, 2004 opening of the MTS Centre. The Winnipeg Arena earned the nickname of the "White House" amongst locals for its traditional White Out during playoff games. The Winnipeg White Out is the best known and most loved sports tradition in Winnipeg.
