Wilhelm König was a German archaeologist, and the discoverer of the Baghdad Battery. He found the battery in the basement of the British Museum. After he found it he also determined that it could be a battery. But how could an ancient civiliztion like Mesopotamia have a battery? He came to the conclusion that they must have invented it. The Mesopotamians invented many things but the battery was by far the greatest and most important. Wilhelm decided that they must have used the battery for electroplating (putting a very thin layer of metal onto another piece of metal) or medical uses.
