|
The Warmiak are a Polish ethnic group from Warmia, mostly Roman Catholics.
Between the 14th and 17th centuries, settlers from northern Mazovia moved to former teritories of Old Prussians following their conquest by Teutonic Order.
Since the bishopry of Warmia became part of Poland in 1466, most of Warmiaks remained Catholics, while Mazurs became Protestants. They populated the areas around Olsztyn.
