Vegreville, Alberta, Canada is a town located approximately 100 kilometres east of Alberta's capital city, Edmonton, and sits roughly in the geographic center of the province. The primary economic base of the town is agricultural.
A large percentage of Vegreville's population is of Ukrainian descent. The world's largest pysanka (Ukrainian Easter egg) was created to commemorate Canada's Centennial Year (1967), and celebrates Vegreville's ethnic heritage.
