You are right; an article about the Gothic script would start with the example of the script. However, the article I deleted did not contain gothic script. It was just the alphabet in normal font. I'm afraid this counts as "no useful content". There wasn't even an introduction - it was literally just the alphabet typed in. We have alphabet for that. Pages need to have some redeeming features to be kept, and this one simply didn't. Hopefully I'm not being too harsh, but you said it wasn't your article anyway.
