I'm a German intellectual and proud of my European cultural heritage. Europe, that's a continent which stretches from Iceland, Ireland and Portugal in the west to the Russian Ural and Caucasus mountains in the east. Europe has a long and diverse history and draws upon several cultural traditions. What links the European peoples together are their common ethnical, cultural and liguistical Indoeuropean roots, their shared Greek, Roman and Byzantine traditions, and an enduring cultural exchange.
My brother lives and spends his money in Georgia (not the Caucasian one, but the North American one).
I am very sad to see that the knowledge and importance of culture and history in the US steadily declines.
My first suggestion: stop Bush. My second suggestion: learn foreign languages. My third suggestion: read books.
