Rather than continue to argue the point back and forth, I thought I'd do some research to see how other articles on opposing topics handle this situation. Here are some of the things I found:
- United States Republican Party states in its opening section: "Since its inception, its chief opponent has been the Democratic Party." (with link)
- United States Democratic Party states in its opening section: "From 1833 to 1856, it was opposed chiefly by the Whig Party. From 1856 onward its main opposition has come from the Republican Party." (with link)
- Globalization mentions alternate definitions of the term in the opening section, and has a section on Anti-globalization within the body of the article (although it is further down the page, and no link to Anti-globalization is provided earlier than in that section).
- The section on "Intellectualism" in the Intellectual article mentions criticisms in the second sentence (although it doesn't link to Anti-intellectualism until the "Related articles" section at the end).
- Pro-life and Pro-choice both redirect to Morality and legality of abortion
- Left-wing politics links to Right-wing politics in the very first sentence (and vice versa).
...and obviously:
- Anti-Zionism links to Zionism in the first paragraph.
As to whether or not the relationship between Zionism and anti-Zionism is integral to the topic, I did a Google search for "Zionism -wikipedia" and found that of the first 100 results:
- Sites that were pro-Zionist and/or didn't emphasize anti-Zionism: 43
- Pro/Neutral: 34
- Christian Zionism: 8
- Post-Zionism: 1
- Sites that were pro-Zionist but which emphasized anti-Zionism: 2
- Anti-Racism: 2
- Sites that were anti-Zionist: 49
- Racism: 13
- Anti: 20
- Jews against: 14
- Christian anti: 2
- Other: 6
- Amazon: 2
- Search: 2
- Non-English: 2
Google hits for:
- zionism -wikipedia – 271,000
- zionism -"anti-zionism" -wikipedia – 239,000
- "anti-zionism" -wikipedia – 28,700
- zionism racism -wikipedia – 64,900
I interpret the above as being pretty indicative of a strong connection between Zionism and anti-Zionism. Other articles in which there is such a relationship between opposing views tend to mention those opposing views pretty predomenantly, so I think Zionism should as well. There are a variety of ways of doing so, using the examples from the first part above.
