Hi All!
Welcome to my ego page (http://tinyurl.com/4kv59). According to Googlism (http://www.googlism.com/),
steve rapaport is correct if you want to create a database accessable via a browser
and that was largely all I did (http://petabit.com/) for a few years. But now I've moved on.
Wikipedian
I've been a Wikipedian since 25 September, 2002, and I'm user 4194.
I started up a few articles myself, either from zero or from stubs, some of which have even remained mostly mine. The original articles I'm happiest with include:
- Media manipulation
- Allan Sherman and Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh
- Shel Silverstein
- Buddy Ebsen
- Art Frahm
- Sphynx cats and Mr. Bigglesworth
- Elmer Fudd and What's Opera, Doc?
- Voiceless_dorso-palatal_velar_fricative
- Diabetes in cats and dogs
I think I deserve a gold star for Italian language even though it's only about
three-quarters mine.
I've also contributed significant good stuff to:
- Dot-com
- Inflection, Grammatical tense (which I countered systemic bias on)
- French language
- Romance languages
- Swedish (Vocabulary section)
- Front vowel
- Schwa and Copula
- Mel Blanc, Chuck Jones, Bugs Bunny and Porky Pig
other contributions to the universe
I believe I may have coined the term "the 0-0s (uh-oh's)" for the first ten years of the millenium, and I put it into the 'pedia on 26 September 2002 hoping to spread the meme. It appears to have been a successful attempt.
I'm currently writing some tutorial articles (http://petabit.multiply.com/journal) to describe grammar (cross-language, not just English), from the point of view of those more familiar with programming languages. No I'm not trying to formalize human grammar in the Chomskian sense, rather I'm trying to informalize it to the point where it becomes less threatening. I hope you like it, and I welcome feedback to steve at rapaport (dotcom).
I am also concerned about underreported but vital news in the USA. It's getting pretty obvious that some stories are being downplayed in the US and I want to help correct that. There are many good "alternative news" websites already, so I've started an online community to collect and comment on these sites and the news. It's on Orkut (http://www.orkut.com/), please join us if you think it's a good idea: Underreported (http://www.orkut.com/Community.aspx?cmm=13996)
I'm on the Countering Systemic Bias Project. I've lived in Canada, the US, Quebec, Italy, and now in Sweden, so I feel I have an outside view of things. It also gives me an irresistible urge to tamper with pages about French, Swedish, and Italian. :-)

This is a great project and I hope to continue contributing occasionally when I should be working instead.
