My name is Steuard Jensen (http://www.slimy.com/~steuard/), and to be honest, I don't have much time to spend on this Wikipedia thing. But as long as I'm here, I figure a little bit of information about myself is in order.
I am currently a graduate student in physics at the University of Chicago studying string theory. Most of my time these days is spent on research, though I enjoy teaching as well (when I get the chance). In the spirit of sharing my excitement about science with others, I gave a short speech (http://www.slimy.com/~steuard/personal/ARCSspeech.html) at a scholarship luncheon in the fall of 2003 on the value of science which was fairly well received. Early in 2004, I gave a lecture on the basics of string theory to Chicago's MIT alumni club; I hope to put that online eventually.
I am also an active participant in the J. R. R. Tolkien newsgroups on Usenet; I am the author of the groups' current FAQ (http://tolkien.slimy.com/faq/) and a number of related resources and essays (most notably the Tolkien Meta-FAQ (http://tolkien.slimy.com/), my exhaustive essay on Tom Bombadil (http://tolkien.slimy.com/essays/Bombadil.html), and the Custom Tolkien Book List (http://tolkien.slimy.com/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/~steuard/booklist.pl)). As a fun aside, I was elected prom king back in high school as a result of a massive practical joke by some of my friends; I've written up my full prom king saga (http://www.slimy.com/~steuard/personal/pk.html) to share the humor with others.
