Who?!
|
AIW_logo.png
The pseudonym "StAkAr" invokes the enigmatic 'Starhawk,' who was known for his unique insight into the 'big picture,' often acting in a manner bizarre to his comrades but targeted to serve the greater good.
"Karnak", a member of the 'Inhumans,' was noted for his uncanny ability to perceive flaws in any object and how best to exploit them.
A case-sensitive rendering is preferred ("StAkAr" as opposed to "Stakar"), both to distuinguish himself from his fictional namesake and because it's that much more dramatic.
He has been a Wikipedian since 13 Jul 2003.

WWW presence
In 1997, StAkAr acquired a WebTV internet appliance (today known as MSN TV).
Intrigued by the nostalgic possibilities the WWW presented, he searched through scores of pages with his television and wireless keyboard. Having abandoned comic book collecting, he looked up his favorite characters and created a [site (http://www.geocities.com/glakandar/gotw/main.htm)] that persists to this day (albeit with infrequent updates), resuming his funnybook collecting.
Notably, StAkAr also had questions about children's television programs that were only fragmented memories, particularly those from early Nickelodeon shows. To remedy this, he created "Ancient Nick", a place where others who'd seen these shows could contribute their memories and form a complete picture of their shared past. Contributions were made exclusively via email, with StAkAr editing and posting content as he saw fit.
The site was a modest success, and the concept was later realized on a greater scale by the now-defunct Yesterdayland.com (http://web.archive.org/web/20030320023934/www.yesterdayland.com/). Having fulfilled its purpose, StAkAr eventually shut the site down because it was more trouble than it was worth.

Data consumption
StAkAr amassed a collection of books, largely comics, as well as works on history, art, and science. Though they were each an invaluable experience, they became a burden once reading was complete, as the sheer numbers necessitated rapid progression to the next volume. In addition, they took up a lot of space.
The majority of his library was recently auctioned, with only a few essentials being retained. This narrowing of focus brings a new clarity and sense of purpose.
These days, StAkAr endeavors to practise minimalism, for practicality's sake, and in accordance with Sturgeon's Law. He also is an enthusiastic proponent of a fit lifestyle.
