Eee, a blank page. How daunting. I'd better put something in it.
My name is Matthew Thomas. I'm on a mission to save the world. My interests, therefore, include (but are not necessarily limited to):
- accessibility
- computing (including Free Software, human-computer interaction, and Web protocols and formats)
- decentralization
- design (including typography and data presentation)
- ecology
- history
- music
- politics
- psychology
- sociology.
My contributions thus far (before I got a Wikipedia account) have mainly been copy-editing. I’ve actually felt somewhat guilty about copy-editing, because I can’t help thinking that if someone’s English is suspect, their facts are suspect too. So improving the English and not the facts makes an article look more authoritative than perhaps it should be. (Does anyone else feel this way?)
I just wrote Wikipedia:Alternate text for images.
I’m currently working on a rewrite of Earth, which is lots of fun. (Well, you try summarizing 1.4 million species into two paragraphs on "Ecology". Or 4.5 billion years into four paragraphs on "History". It's hard.)
