I am a US physician, specializing in preventive, non-invasive and invasive cardiology in San Antonio. I also have practical mechanical, electronic design, and a little software engineering experience. From 1970-1973, I was an pilot instructor in supersonic jet aircraft in the U.S. Air Force.

I came across Wikipedia during a Google search looking for technical information on current digital encoding algorithms for sound.

Being favorably impressed with the technical information overview, organization and links about the sound encoding issue provided by others, I decided to look up atherosclerosis, a problem for a majority of humans, perhaps more so in first world countries with longer life expectancies, and one with which I have technical expertise.

I found the Wikipedia definition of atherosclerosis to be rather basic and elected to perform rather extensive editing, so far only with text, to better elucidate the issues. Some images to illustrate some of the issues and a better organizational outline would likely be of considerable help to improved understanding by non-physicians. I have not done these, at least yet.

I initially edited as IP addresses 69.91.2.171, 66.167.113.81 and 66.167.186.6.

I appreciate the help of user:PFHLai with the atherosclerosis page, good edits and of 80.128.54.96 with correcting the atheroma link problem.

I have initiated a few pages: Andreas Gruentzig, Atheroma, Cardiac Output, Cardiolite, Cerebral circulation, Electron Beam Tomography, False negative, Fatty streaks, Gamma camera, Hounsfield scale, IVUS, NCEP, Positron electron annihilation reaction, Radiocontrast, Radiodense, Radiodensity, Stroke Volume, Vulnerable plaque, X-Ray tube and a few other definitions.

I have also worked on Angiogram, Angioplasty, Arteriole, artery, Atherosclerosis, Blood pressure, Cardiac stress test, Cardiology diagnostic tests and procedures, Cardiovascular disease, Cholesterol, Coronary catheterization, Diabetes Mellitus, Cardiovascular disease, Cholesterol, Coronary artery bypass surgery, Computed axial tomography, Coronary heart disease, Diabetes mellitus, Endothelium, High density lipoprotein, Hypercholesterolemia, Ischaemic heart disease, lipoprotein (69.91.2.137), Low density lipoprotein, Myocardial infarction, Necrosis, SPECT, Stents, Tomogram and Vascular smooth muscle.
