Sometimes I help Wikipedia:Cleanup Wikipedia:Peer_review .
Often I feel a page is too long (Wikipedia:Page size) or too complicated.
I try to update the parallel http://simple.wikipedia.org/ page with a simpler explanation, often failing miserably.
I am more successful at reducing size. "What!", you may exclaim, "you not only delete stuff, but then you brag about it on your user page ?!". Not exactly. I (try to) follow the Wikipedia:Refactoring guidelines. I *move* blocks of text -- from one article or talk page, to a more relevant article or talk page. (I try to leave behind a link to the new location so people won't think I'm randomly deleting stuff). Occasionally I create a new article specifically about one large section of the old article.
I wish more people refactored. I find it annoying when much of the text of some long article or talk page is yet another re-hash of something already thoroughly examined on several other pages.
