The University of Derby is a university in the city of Derby, England. It also has a campus in Buxton, Derbyshire.
The main campus is in Kedleston, by the side of the A38 in the north-west of Derby. There are two other campuses at Mickleover and Britannia Mill.
In 2003, it was criticised by the Conservative Party for offering the discontinued course of BSc (Hons) in Hairdressing Science and Retail Distribution at its Buxton campus. This is obviously a vocational course though it claimed to include analytical chemistry and an introduction to physics. The university also offers a foundation degree in Hairdressing. The Conservative view was: "We are sure all these courses provide useful training for careers, but are they really proper academic courses?".
The student union, UDSU, has two bars - Blends and The Arms. There is a student night called Spank! on Wednesdays at The Gatehouse.
There is a student newspaper called Dusted, and a student radio station called D:One.
