USS John S. McCain
|
Two ships of the United States Navy have been named USS John S. McCain, in memory of the two Admirals John S. McCain. The elder John "Sidney" McCain (1884-1945) served in World War II. The younger McCain, known as "Jack," served during the Vietnam War.
- The first USS John S. McCain was a destroyer-leader, later converted to a destroyer. Commissioned in 1953, she was named solely for the elder McCain.
- The second USS John S. McCain, a guided-missile destroyer, was commissioned in 1994 and is on active service as of 2005.
