USS FGS Lutjens (DDG-28)

USS Tolman (DDG-28), was named for Commander Charles E. Tolman USN (1903-1943), commanding officer of USS De Haven (DD-469), killed in action when the ship was sunk by enemy Japanese aircraft off Guadalcanal on 1 February 1943 and posthumously awarded the Navy Cross. It was a Charles F. Adams class Guided missile destroyer laid down by the Bath Iron Works at Bath in Maine on 1 March 1966 and completed as Lütjens for the West German Navy. FGS Lutjens decommissioned in 2003.
