In English the word trunk has a number of uses.
- A trunk (botany) refers to the main structural member of a tree that is supported by and directly attached to the roots and which in turn supports the branches.
- In anatomy trunk is another word for torso, which in the human body is the body without the head, arms and legs.
- A elephant's trunk is that creature's elongated nose-like organ.
- In American English, an automobile trunk is a compartment used for storage space, usually placed at the rear of a car. The Commonwealth English equivalent to this word is car boot.
- Trunk (telecommunications) has a number of closely related meanings.
- A trunk can also be a large form of luggage.
