True lover's knot
|
The "true lover's knot" is created by interlacing the loops from opposing overhand knots (on the same line, with both loose ends, thus forming a loop), and tightening them to form an apparent woven square.
Note: If the loops from the opposing overhand knots are pulled through the opposite knots, a "sailor's cross" is formed.
This knot gives its name to a species of European moth, Lycophotia porphyrea.
