Triad (Stargate)

In the science fiction television series Stargate SG-1, a Triad is the Tollan version of a private law proceeding. Two seekers, or parties serve as the entitles arguing their case, and archons are analogous to lawyers. There is also a third archon, who is chosen as to be neutral to the case. The seekers argue their case until they reach a decision. At the end, each seeker has an archon that votes in favor of their side. This inevitably ends up in a tie, which is broken by the third archon.
