Toni Basil (born on September 22, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is a musician, video artist and choreographer. Her birth name is Antonia Christina Basilotta. She is best known for her 1981 song "Mickey" (Although it should be noted that this song is in fact a cover of Vicky, a 1980 release by UK band Racey). The video for "Mickey" was released in 1982, and was one of the most popular of the early-MTV music videos. In the video, Basil wore a Las Vegas High School cheerleader uniform...the same school that she graduated from in the early 1960s.
She also has appeared in movies, such as Easy Rider and Five Easy Pieces, as a television guest, and as a choreographer for movies such as American Graffiti, The Rose and Legally Blonde. She appeared as a dancer in The Monkees film, Head. She also starred in the cult film, Rockula with Thomas Dolby. She also brought West coast Street dance to center stage via Television ,Video ,Movie for Legendary groups such "Lockers " and 'Electric Boogaloos " who inturn influence Michael / Janet Jackson who both borrowed from the "Electric Boogaloos" steps which change Music Videos and American Pop culture for ever via the Global 989 Billion dollar Hip Hop Industry.
