Tom Corbett was a fictional teenage space cadet who, with Astro and Roger Manning, piloted the Polaris on space missions. His adventures were narrated in a series of novels (Standby for Mars and others) and later became fare for a radio and television series. Scientist Willy Ley was the television show's technical advisor. The series is loosely based on Robert Heinlein's Space Cadet.
