Tim Barnett

Timothy John Barnett is a member of the New Zealand Parliament for Christchurch Central since 1999. He was a British immigrant to New Zealand. One of New Zealand's first openly gay politicians.
Born in Rugby, UK on 4 August 1958, he moved to New Zealand in 1991 with his partner. He was elected to Parliament as the MP for Christchurch Central in 1996 and has been active in many community based organisations in New Zealand, including Rainbow Labour, is a supporter of the queer students association UniQ and a staunch supporter of the Prostitution Reform Bill which became law in 2003 and the Civil Union Bill.
