Tights
|
Tights may refer to two types of leg coverings:
- in British English, tights refers to pantyhose.
- in North American English, tights refers to hosiery that is made of a thicker fabric than pantyhose and is often associated with ballerinas and figure skaters. Generally, females of all ages wear tights but pantyhose are not ususally worn by pre-teens.
The term "tights" has recently been used as an offensive term for any Traditional British uniform, most famously the Serjeant-at-arms at the Palace of Westminster.
