The General is a name which has been applied to several things:
- The General, a locomotive stolen in the Great Locomotive Chase of the American Civil War
- The 1927 movie The General: Buster Keaton's comedy about the train taken hostage during the above chase.

- "The General", an episode of The Prisoner.
