Tessa Ann Vosper Blackstone, Baroness Blackstone, PC, is a politician in the United Kingdom. She is a Labour life peer in the House of Lords.
She has been Minister for Education at the Department of Education from 1997-2001 then Minister for Arts at the Department of Culture, Media and Sport 2001-2003. Before joining the government she headed Birkbeck College from 1987-1997 .
Tessa Blackstone is in collaboration with Luigi Berlinguer (Italy), Claude Allegre (France) und Jürgen Rüttgers (Germany) one of the heads of the "Sorbonne declaration", the joint declaration on harmonisation of the architecture of the European higher education system, in May 25 1998. That was the Intro to the "Bologna process".
In 2004 she became Vice-Chancellor of the University of Greenwich.
