Terling

Terling is a village in the county of Essex, United Kingdom, between the town Witham and the villages of Great Leighs and Hatfield Peverel. The village was mentioned in the Domesday book and, in 1991 had a population of 741. A church (C of E) and a single public house: The Raleigh Arms (Lord Raleigh being the title of the head of the Strutt family who live at Terling Place, the main house in the village).
Since 2002 it has been the location of the Terling International Trifle Competition, held each year in September.
