Tambov

Tambov (Тамбо́в) is a city in Russia, administrative center of Tambov Oblast. It stands on the river Tsna. Geographical location Template:Coor dm. Founded in 1636, the city had a population estimated at 291,852 in 2004.
During World War II, Tambov Camp n° 188, also known as the "Camp of the French," retained many malgré-nous from Alsace-Lorraine region of France. Even if conditions in this camp was better than those found in the German ones, several thousand malgré-nous died in this camp.
