Etymology
Some folks (plainly those Danes and Norwegians) mistake the name of Stenhousemuir to indicate its having been founded by Vikings. Infact, "muir" is a scots word for moor (I just checked my excessively detailed scots dictionary, and it has only that meaning) where the scots word for wall is "dyke" (yes, like dutch). I guess the Norsk/Dansk word comes from latin's murus (wall), so the similarity to muir is accidental. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 12:35, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)
