Gil-galad as Fingon's son was an editing mistake by Christopher Tolkien, which he admitted. If he were the son of Fingon, he would become the High King of the Noldor instead of Turgon after Fingon's death. Ausir 13:43, 28 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Meaning of Orodreth
I have reasearched this to some degree, and have found that, to the best of my knowledge, Orodreth comes out as "Little Mountian" in Sindarin. However, I can not find anything for a definition of Artaresto, and Artanáro only gets me vauge possibilities, such as "Sun-Fort". "Little mountian" again, to the best of my knowledge, is Oronollo in Quenya.
I have not heard of Artaher / Arothir until today and have done no research on them. I would like to add a section adressing the meaning of Orodreth, but would not want to do so without the other meanings as well. --Alasseo 05:24, Jul 30, 2004 (UTC)
