I know a bit about Italian music and I haven't heard of anyone in this article except Enrico Caruso (who wasn't a singer-songwriter), and Franco Battiato (who isn't a folk musician). I have heard of people like Lucio Battisti, Lucio Dalla, Giorgia, Laura Pausini, Francesco di Gregori and dozens of others who don't make it into World Music books, no matter how popular or significant they are in Italy. But I don't feel knowledgeable enough (nor is my Italian good enough) for me to feel confident that I can do this subject justice. Of course this article will be expanded, but what will be the result? I'm an Australian and, going by the Music of Australia article, I doubt this one will ever be very informative for people who hope to learn something about Italian culture (which is for Italians to define).
