Talk:Lleida

Lérida tiene mas valor histórico que Lleida? User:80.58.51.172

Sí, es el nombre más etimológico:
  • Ilerda

Note that the modern names are at the top of the article, and the ancient names are at the bottom. There is no need to repeat this information in the middle. In my opinion, Lleyda is not significant. The letters y and i were used chaotically in previous centuries, so it does not represent anything different from Lleida. Chameleon 17:00, 5 Jun 2004 (UTC)

The references to the dialecte are absurd. This is like to explain that of course in Liverpool the people speak with a British accent (?). The logical is speak about this in the province of Lleida linking there to Occidental Catalan.

No, it is not like that. There is no such thing as a British accent. Pointing out a feature of Lleidatà Catalan is like pointing out that in Liverpool they often speak with a rising intonation. You seem to be trying to imply that Western Catalan is homogenous. Valencian is in the western group, but here in Valencia everybody says el, els. It is valid to point out a feature of local speech. If you wish to add info about Western Catalan, then do so, but don't try to make out that what I have put is wrong. — Chameleon My page/My talk 11:44, 8 Jul 2004 (UTC)

And please stop politics. The two names, Spanish and Catalan are absolutly correct in the respective languages. The comments about the two forms are ridiculous and aplicable to any other site in any other language. The official form in one and the people use the two in their own languages. Like in Perpignan, for example. It's not difficult understand this.

No, politics is important. The comments about "offical" names are not made innocently. They are weaselly additions made by Catalan nationalists to attempt to erode the validity of the Castilian names of places in Catalonia. Just as Francoists made only Castilian names official and tried to suppress everything else as dialectal and unofficial, so separatists do the same now in the opposite direction. I won't stand for it. The information about "Lleida" being used in Spanish can be in the article only if counter-balanced so that it is not implied that the Spanish name is in any way less valid. — Chameleon My page/My talk 11:44, 8 Jul 2004 (UTC)
