History
I'd like to add the following to the History section: --MPerel Nov 1 2004 11:54
- Clovis became incorporated on February 27, 1912. City limits were bounded by Minnewawa, Barstow, Sunnyside, and Sierra Avenues, one square mile. This section of the city is known today as “Old Town Clovis.”
I'd also like to add information about the town name, early history about the Yokuts Indians, Spanish exploration in the early 1800s responsible for some of the local geographic names, Mexican sovereignty, then United States acquisition. Also there is a lot of interesting history about the migration of diverse peoples that came to Clovis, the various events and motivations that brought them here. --MPerel Nov 1 2004 12:59
