- The Spanish government uses both the Castilian and Catalan names for this province (and for the other two provinces in the Valencian Community). This being the case, I went for what, as far as I could tell, is the best-known name in English. However, the case is much clearer for Alicante and Valencia; I could look at arguments for changing this name. - Montréalais 14:49, 17 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- Yes, I think Valencia and Alicante are fairly well-known in English by their Spanish names, and that Castelló(n), by contrast, is rather unknown to English speakers, due to lack of tourism; the acute accent in the name shows that it is not an Anglicised form. Given this, I'd say that we should choose between the Spanish and Catalan forms on the basis of whether Castelló(n) is mostly a Catalan-speaking town or not, whilst giving full prominence to the alternative form. — Chameleon 15:13, 17 Jun 2004 (UTC)
