Sylhet

Sylhet is a town in northeastern Bangladesh. It had a population of 285,308 in 2001, and has 10.49 square miles (27 km²) of area.
Sylhet is the chief town of Sylhet division. It was part of the Assam province during British Raj. After a referendum in 1947, Sylhet became a part of East Pakistan and later Bangladesh, whereas the rest of Assam became a part of India.
It is noted as the home town of most Bangladeshi migrants to the United Kingdom.
It is twinned with St Albans, United Kingdom
Certain parts of the United Kingdom are heavily populated by people from Sylhet, namely Whitechapel in London which the home of Royal London Hospital and the Blind Beggers Pub http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blind_Beggar (where the notorious Kray brothers murdered someone).
