Swina

Swina (Polish: Świna; Pomeranian: Swina, German: Swine ) is a central strait, river or a branch of Oder River out of three straits conecting the Lagoon of Szczecin with the Bay of Pomerania of the Baltic Sea, between the islands of Wolin and Uznam.
Major towns are:
- Swinoujscie (=mouth of Swina river)
Swina is part of the a waterway connecting Szczecin international seaport with Baltic sea alowing large ships to enter Szczecin.
In 1897 the river was dammed and deepened, and the Kaiserfahrt was dug, which connected the Swine with the Szczecin harbour, and as such gained import as a direct waterway to the industrial city of Szczecin.
