Subways in South Korea
|
Rapid transit subways operate in South Korea's four largest cities, with two more cities currently building their own systems:
- Seoul - Seoul Metropolitan Subway (9 lines + 1 under construction)
- Busan - Busan Subway (2 lines + 1 under construction)
- Daegu - Daegu Metropolitan Subway (1 line + 1 under construction)
- Incheon - Incheon Subway (1 line integrated with the Seoul subway system + other lines planned)
- Gwangju - Gwangju Subway (1 line partially open)
- Daejeon - Daejeon Subway (1 line under construction)
Subway service in Seoul is provided by three separate operators: the Korean National Railroad (Korail), which operates most of Line 1, parts of Lines 3 and 4, and the Bundang Line; and two subway companies.
