Startide Rising

Startide Rising is a 1983 sci-fi novel by David Brin and the second book of six set in his Uplift Universe. It earned the Nebula Award for Best Novel.

This story is about the spaceship Streaker which is manned by neo-dolphins (dolphins genetically engineered to match human intelligence). The ship is being hunted by several alien races after having stumbled upon a derelict fleet whose identity is of vast historical and religious import to the alien civilizations.
