Standard Records
|
Standard Records was the name of at least two United States based record labels.
The first functioned for about a decade in the years prior to World War I. The Chicago, Illinois based company issued double-sided disc records mostly from Columbia Records masters, and probably pressed by Columbia. Despite the name, the discs were not quite "Standard"; the spindle hole at the center of the discs was of a larger size than usual, making them difficult to play satisfactorily on phonographs other than those marketed by the same company with this size of spindle.
