Sriharikota

Sriharikota is an island off the coast of Andhra Pradesh in India. It houses the Sriharikota Launching Range (SHAR), used by the Indian space agency, ISRO, to launch satellites using multi-stage rockets such as PSLV or GSLV.
This center was later renamed as Professor Satish Dhawan Space Center.
The facility consists of two launch pads, the second recently built. The second launch pad was used for launches beginning in 2005. The second facility is an universal launch pad, which accommodate all of launch vehicles of ISRO. The two launch pads will allow for multiple launches in the year, which was not possible earlier.
India's lunar orbiter 'Chandrayaan 1' will be launched from this launch location in 2007-2008.
