Therapeutic touch

Therapeutic touch (TT) is a technique of alternative medicine, invented by Dolores Krieger in the early 1970s. TT is practiced by a therapist moving his or her hands over the patient’s body, specifically the affected area, without actually touching it. This is said to direct the flow of chi so that the patient can heal. The practice is based on the belief that living beings have an energy field or aura which extends beyond the surface of the body that can be manipulated by the therepist. No evidence of effectiveness has been found when TT has been tested under controlled conditions.
