Sajjad Ali Shah
|
Sajjad Ali Shah was the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. In 1997, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's party was elected with a majority large enough for Sharif to change the Constitution, and to systematically remove the institutional checks and balances on the Prime Minister's power. Shah attempted to preserve the independence of the judiciary. He was forced out of office after the Supreme Court was stormed by Sharif's partisans.
