Semi

Semi- is a prefix to a verb or noun meaning "half". Some compounds formed with it are often abbreviated to simply "semi" in appropriate contexts:
- The road vehicle (US): Semi-trailer truck (UK: articulated lorry)
- The watercraft: Semi-submersible
- The time interval in music (UK): Semiquaver, which is half the length of a quaver (US: sixteenth-note, half of an eighth-note).
- The housing type (UK): Semi-detached house (US: duplex)
