Mac Computer Expo

Mac Computer Expo (MCE for short) is a yearly fundraising event held every September by the North Cost Macintosh Users Group in Santa Rosa, California.

Current Location
Each Year NCMUG holds the event at the Santa Rosa Junior College Cafeteria for vender exhibitions, and a few of the surrounding rooms for other, focused events.

MCE 2004 Events
MCE 2004 featured:
- 3 presentations with a computer industry focus, Macintosh in particular.
- 2 exhibiter presentations
- A keynote presentation by Jason Snell, Editor in Chief of Macworld Magazine
- 3 Raffle Drawings from the same pot: iBook, and 2 4G 20 GB iPod's
- GarageBand Jam - a room dedicated to Apple GarageBand running all day.

MCE of the Past
Previous MCE Events
In years past, MCE events included:
- A swap meet where space was provided for people to sell their older hardware and software. In 2001 the Swap meet was discontinued from the expo, and rolled into the July and December general meetings.
- An on going raffle for many computer industry items ranging in value from $10 to $500
- A Silent Auction for various items that my or may not be computer industry related ranging in value from $50 to priceless (including a tour for 10 of the Apple Headquarters)
Previous MCE Names and Locations
Mac Computer Expo has been held at the Santa Rosa Veterans Building and Luther Burbank Center, both in Santa Rosa, under the name of Mac Discovery Day, due to its date's proximity to Columbus Day.
Putting it together
MCE Planning Comity
Every April, the NCMUG board of directors puts together the MCE planning comity whose responsibilities include the following:
- Securing a date and location
- Coming up with topics, and presenters
- Inviting a keynote speaker, and exhibiters
- Advertising
- Deciding on major raffle prize(s) and ticket price(s) (and hope that they are still current July though September - the advertising period)
- Choosing a theme for this year's expo
- Deciding on what other events to hold in the auxiliary buildings and rooms
MCE Planning comity membership
The Comity consists of people from both the general NCMUG membership, and NCMUG Board of directors, and meets on the second Tuesday of the month following the Board Meeting from April through September. The 2004 Comity members are:

MCE Vollenteers
Mac Computer Expo would not be possible without the additional volunteers. Each volunteer works for at least 2 hours at their assigned task during the day. The volunteers are too numerous to list here, however, the positions are:
