Haldad

Haldad is a fictional character in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth, and the symbolic first chief of the Haladin.
Haldad was the father of the twins Haldar and Haleth, and grandfather of Haldan. In Haldad's time, the Haladin, then dwelling in Thargelion, had no chieftain, and did not serve any of the Royal Families of the Ņoldor. When Morgoth sent Orcs to attack the Haladin, Haldad, being a wise leader, a brave warrior and a masterful man, organized the survivors and lead them to the Angle between Ascar and Gelion, where they built a stockade. The Orcs besieged them in the stockade, and during a sortie, Haldad was slain by the Orcs, as was his son Haldar while trying to protect his Father's body from defilement by the Orcs.
