Sparisjóðabanki Íslands (Icebank) is the fourth commercial bank of Iceland, though it does not actually hold any private deposits. Established in 1986, it serves as the clearinghouse and central bank for the 24 savings banks in Iceland, which own it. It provides the locally-run savings banks with foreign exchange and other international services, domestic clearing, and liquidity administration, as well as helping provide external funding and syndicate lending and other services.
